William Ernest McKibben is an American environmentalist, author and journalist who has written extensively on the effects of global warming. He is Schumann's Emeritus Fellow at Middlebury University and leader of the 350.org climate advocacy group. He is the author of dozens of books on the environment, including his first, The End of Nature, on climate change. In 2009, he led 350.org to organize 5,200 concurrent events in 181 countries. In 2010, McKibben and 350.org formed the Global Task Force on October 10, hosting more than 7,000 events in 188 countries, as he said at a major meeting at Warren Wilson College shortly before that. event.
