Arugba is a Yoruba movie that is centered on the life of a young girl named Adetutu (Bukola Awoyemi). She is supposed to be the intermediary between the gods and the people as she periodically carries sacrifices to appease the gods.
Prior to this, the movie proper opens with an extremely long shot which shows a mountainous city Ilu Nla which eventually turns out to be the setting of the movie. Awoyemi remained Nigerians’ sweetheart Damola on the silver screen, ever since her stellar performance in the movie, ‘Arugba,’ directed by legendary filmmaker, Tunde Kilani. That was ten years ago until 2014 when she encountered her first scandal as an actress.
Citing this, reports emerged that Bukky snatched her actor husband, Damola, from another woman.
However, in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, she said that it was the most challenging time of her life.
“Though people fail to know the actual story of an event, they don’t mind concluding and passing their judgment. Honestly, it was not easy for me back then because it was my most challenging moment in life. One thing about me is that I am a very quiet person and it was a very gloomy period of my life but I thank God it is over. Besides, it was just the grace of God that kept me through that period and I would not want to comment further on that issue,” Bukola stated during an interview.
Prior to this, she has since got her groove back and returned to grace the silver screen told Saturday Beats how Damola reacts when another man kisses her on set.
Citing this, she said, “I am a professional so I don’t feel anyhow when I see him kiss another woman but as for me, I really don’t like doing things like that in a movie. But when I don’t do it well, my husband criticizes me. He would tell me that I have to make it real. Moreover, he would say that if I don’t do it well, it would not be real enough.
“Whenever my husband is working on any project, he shows me the script first because I would analyze it thoroughly and objectively. Nevertheless, I am always honest with my opinion about his work because no one can tell him the truth as I would. Therefore, he knows that I would not be biased.”
Prior to this, she speaks on how she has been able to handle the teeming female fans under her husband’s spell based on his acting prowess.
In addition, “We both don’t get jealous when we are with our fans or admirers because it is something we had been experiencing even before we got married. ” She says. Furthermore, they would not take him home after they are done talking with him or taking pictures with him,” she said.

Bukola claims she has always wanted to be an actress and she had decided to pursue a career in acting even before she gained admission into the university to study Performing Arts.
