He reigned for over five years as world champion was unbeaten as a professional in his first ten years and remained unbeaten at middleweight. His world title fights against fellow Britons Nigel Benn and Michael Watson helped British boxing ride a wave of popularity in the 1990s, making Eubank one of the most famous celebrities of the time.

He challenged then-up and coming challenger Joe Calzaghe in his final two years of boxing in an attempt to win his WBO super-middleweight belt, with a triumphant Calzaghe later saying it was the hardest fight of all his career. The last two fights Eubank had fought against WBO junior-heavyweight champion Carl Thompson, both of whom were rough battles.
