Authorities believed Tara Sidarovich’s disappearance from her Punta Gorda, Florida home on October 1, 2001, when she was 19 years old, would be a simple case to solve.
On the other hand, the discovery of her remains in July 2002 resulted in a horrifying homicide. Investigation Discovery’s “The Night That Didn’t End: Stolen Memories” walks viewers through the murder.
Finally, a makeshift grave in the woods off Burnt Store Road was found by Punta Gorda police in July 2002. It was eventually determined that the human skeletal remains inside belonged to Tara.

Dateline: Where Are Tara Sidarovich Parents Now?
The “The Knock at the Door” episode of Dateline looks into Tara Ord Sidorovich’s murder and disappearance in 2001, as well as the current whereabouts of her parents.
The “amazing dedication” of Tara’s family, led by her mother, Sharon McPhillips, is what helped reopen the cold case, according to Dateline contributor Keith Morrison.
Sharon created the Facebook page Justice for Tara after McMannis and Barr were taken into custody in 2012 to inform family members and friends about the case and court procedures.
One month after McMannis and Barr were given life sentences, McPhillips reported that she had to remove one comment for “vulgarity” since it was made by an incensed reader. On NBC, Dateline airs every Friday at 10 p.m.
As a result, in 2012, the police charged Barr and McMannis with murder after being convinced of their involvement in the killing by many witness testimonies.

Police conducted thorough searches for months with the aid of cadaver dogs and search teams. $5000 was given as a reward by Tara’s family for information leading to her location.
Tara Sidarovich Is An American Murder Victim
Tara Sidarovich’s acquaintances were questioned by authorities several times, but none of them was able to explain why someone would wish to hurt the 19-year-old.
Without any leads, it was getting more and harder to advance, and even requesting help from the public did not provide any respite. The case remained unsolved and made little progress for many years as a result.
When detectives decided to revisit the case, they learned that Phillip Barr and David Ray McMannis had visited Tara’s house for plumbing work on the day she vanished.
Although both men were believed to be involved, the authorities lacked concrete evidence. Surprisingly, Michael Artell revealed to investigators in 2007 that Barr was frightened of being implicated in Tara’s death.
While Barr was serving a different sentence, Michael and Barr reconnected in jail, and their conversation led Michael to suspect that his fellow prisoner was responsible for the murder.
