Frederick Cecil McLean was a most wanted American criminal. The US Marshals were after him since 2005 but he went on a run for 16 years.

Amid it, Cecil used various aliases and lived in different communities. Although the marshals declared him a fugitive ad were searching for him continuously, they did not find him alive.

Frederick had died and his body was discovered by the neighbor on 6 November 2021. When she found it, the body had started decomposing.

The authorities took his body for post mortem and his death is caused by natural reasons. Also, they found out that he was a fugitive after matching his fingerprint in the police database.

The police could not detain him and thus, he joined the U.S Marshals Service 15 Most Wanted Fugitive list in 2006. He was being searched for multiple counts of sexual assault.

During his run, McLean lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, and Anderson and used different aliases. However, for the last 15 years, he was residing in South Carolina as James Fitzgerald.

The police forces were determined to bring him to justice. But they could not find him and the case turned cold until his body was recovered.

His actual date of death is unknown but he was 70 years of age. He passed away at his home in Southern California where he lived as James Fitzgerald.

Cecil’s body was decomposing and it was found by one of his neighbors. They immediately called the authorities and the police did an autopsy on 15 November.

Meanwhile, the experts conducted a fingerprints analysis test. After that, it was found that the dead man was a fugitive who was being searched for cases of sexual assault.

As per NBC Chicago, there was no foul play and Frederick died of natural causes. Hopefully, his death will provide much-needed closure to the victims.

Frederick Cecil McLean committed heinous crimes for 25 years.

He molested young females and children below 18 years of age. Until now, at least eight victims have come forward.

McLean selected his victims via his interaction with people in the church. When his crimes were reported, he ran with $100,000 in cash.

Cecil was wanted for child molestation and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Also, the reward of up to $25,000 was set to find him.

As per the reports, one of his victims (now an adult) was molested more than 100 times before she turned 13 years old.
