A South American publication mistakenly concluded that Manuel was gay after an incorrect translation of his statement.
The statement actually stated that it would be good if professional gay footballers came out because it would also help others to do so.
The goalkeeper voiced his desire for homosexual footballers to come out publicly about their sexuality, saying it would relieve them of stress.
