John Christopher Lydon and Eileen Lydon were the parents of popular singer-songwriter, John Lydon. According to sources, Christopher and Eileen were working-class immigrants from Ireland who moved into a two-room Victorian flat on Benwell Road, in the Holloway area of north London. Christopher died in 2008.
What happened to John Lydon when he was a child?
John Lydon disclosed that he went into a coma after contracting spinal meningitis, and lost his memory after he woke up. He reportedly spent seven (7) months in a coma.
“I didn’t know who I was, my parents. I couldn’t hold a spoon. I woke I’d lost my memory. I didn’t recognize my parents, but had to trust them because I had nowhere else to go,” he said.
He also disclosed that, his mother was mostly sick and his dad worked far away, therefore, as the eldest of his three brothers, he had to step in and act as a helper and change his bay brother’s diapers.
