Richard Roeper is an American columnist as well as a film critic for The Chicago Sun-Times who was born on October 17, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, United States as Richard E. Roeper. Richard co-hosted the television series At the Movies with Roger Ebert from the year 2000 to 2008, serving as the late Gene Siskel’s successor. From the year 2010 to 2014, Richard co-hosted The Roe and Roeper Show with Roe Conn on WLS-AM.

On October 19, 2015, Richard was selected as the new host of the FOX 32 morning show Good Day Chicago, he served as host until October 2017.

After the death of Gene Siskel, Roger co-hosted with over 30 guest critics, after ten appearances on the program, Richard was chosen as a permanent co-host for the show Siskel & Ebert alongside Ebert. In the year 2002, the show’s title was shortened to Ebert & Roeper.

However, Roger Ebert suffered from cancer surgery and Richard hosted the show with several guest critics, Several guests included Clerks director Kevin Smith, The Tonight Show host Jay Leno, along with singer-songwriter John Mellencamp.

Later on, on July 20, 2008, he announced that he was leaving the show in mid-August and return with a new show. However, his plan failed and in December 2010, Richard joined Reelz Channel. At the time, Richard contributed to the segment, Richard’s Reviews every weekday at 5:00 PM ET.

In January 2013, Richard began contributing film reviews to RogerEbert.com. In August 2014, he became a first-staring film critic for The Chicago Sun-Times. His debut film review was Guardians of the Galaxy.
