Riddick Lamont Bowe is a retired American professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2008. He became the undisputed world heavyweight champion in 1992, and while still as an amateur, he won a silver medal in super-heavy weight at the 1988. Summer Olympics. After turning professional in 1989, Bowe became twice world heavyweight champion. In 1992, he won the undisputed WBA, WBC and IBF titles by beating former undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. That same year, Bowe was named Warrior of the Year by The Ring and the American Association of Boxing Writers. Bowe gave up the WBC title later that year in protest, rather than defending the title against their number one candidate, Lennox Lewis. This left the Undisputed Championship split up until 1999. In his 1993 rematch with Holyfield, Bowe almost lost the WBA and IBF titles, which would be his only professional loss.
