Anthony Kevin Dungy is a former American football safety expert, coach and sports analyst, and served as head coach of the National Football Federation for 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. Dungy's teams have become permanent playoff contenders under his leadership, having missed the playoff only twice at Tampa Bay. He led Colts to a Super Bowl XLI victory, making him the first black head coach to win a Super Bowl. Dungy began his tenure as head coach in 1996 with the Buccaneers, a brand considered one of the worst in the league. With the execution of the Tampa 2 defense program, Dungy brought further success to the Buccaneers, leading them to four playoffs in six seasons. He will be sacked after the 2001–02 playoffs due to frequent playoff matches, but he is credited with building the Super Bowl XXXVII championship team the following year.
